Jo's thoughts: Beyond The Sea
Rachel decided on Beyond The Sea for her March-In song, and no wonder -- her groom Jason was an avid sailor, traversing the oceans until unexpectedly, he found somewhere to drop anchor at last...where his beautiful bride Rachel was.
It's a very beautiful story of romance between two continents that brought tears to the eyes of the band as well as the guests, perhaps best summed up in the loosely recalled words of Jason's father, also a sailor:
'My son Jason fell in love with the sea from when when he was just a kid. We'd go sailing together. He grew up and traveled to many different countries.'
'Then one day he found happiness, and her name was Rachel.'
Or to quote the very apt lyrics of Beyond the Sea,
"We'll meet beyond the shore
we'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
and never again I'll go sailin'"
In contrast to the newly and happily rooted groom, Jason's family journeyed down from their homeland of Australia to wave their handkerchiefs at the couple as they departed on the good ship Matrimony, and threw themselves into the Chinese wedding with gusto, joining in happily in the impromptu yam seng, and bouncing up to dance, grandmothers and grandchildren alike, to the tune of Let There Be Love.
The Chinese singaporean guests were warm participants as well: Table 3 sent up a request for the bride and groom to have their first dance, which they tried their best to indulge, and Rachel's brother gamely and very bravely tried to translate Jason's sweet speech from English to Mandarin for the non English-speaking guests, and while some of the bilingual guests laughed very hard at some of his translations, this supposedly bilingual emcee thought his efforts were eloquent and more than adequate.
It was a charming and simple, moving wedding with lovely participants...two of whom, including the groom who must have been tired, came up personally to the band btoh during and after our performance to congratulate us and tell us how well we did, which is really heartfood for us. And after the whole banquet was over, some of the pretty young relatives came up requesting dance music, which the Raffles Hotel soundguy/DJ gamely found and put on, causing a whole table to bounce up to a trance/techno track.
It was a beautiful night, and we wish the Seaman and his Sweetheart a lovely landfall.

Hi Hsin Yeow,
Sorry about the late reply. Jason and I flew to China after the wedding and we just got back.
It's so sweet of Jo and please thank her and the band for the incredible music at the wedding. Jason's grandma was singing along at our table and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.
I'll try to get photos from everyone and will send one at the soonest. Thank you and say hi to everyone for us!
Cheers,

Bevlyn's Thoughts: Dance With Me
Rather than describe what the band's performance and impact on the wedding was like, let Rose do it for you:
"Hi Bevlyn,
Please convey my sincere thanks to Judy and Joel who both performed fabulously at our wedding and my apologies if there is any shortcoming that we didn't notice . Honestly , with so many things happening at the same time on that day, i think we may have overlooked a lot of stuffs....i did not even realise whether both of them have any chance to have lunch during the break........
All our friends were impressed with the different types of songs and languages that Judy can sing........ They are marvellous....!!!! I would definitely recommend you guys to my friends.....
Well....with all the nervous wreck , Tom even forgot about waiting for Judy to translate his first speech and something about my aunt and uncle towards the ending .....hahhaha.....so much for confidence huh....
Well, the most important is all the guests enjoyed the food, the music and the performance, the booze... Everyone was very spontaneous...... .....Just wish i can dance better and probably have sometime to practise some song beforehand......
Thank you again .......

Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Time After Time
Rows of candlelight flickered furiously, desperately trying to brighten a room already set ablaze by the gorgeous chandeliers in the Casuarina Suite. As Hui Bing and I sang All I Ask Of You, Fiona and Edison walked in, and everything else paled in comparison to the glow of happiness in their faces. Fiona looked resplendent in a beautiful gown that boasted a can-can of humongous proportions, while Edison was quite the dashing groom.
It was a wedding marked by many, many surprises.
The first surprise occurred in the second half of the wedding, when Fiona and Edison danced their way in to Rod Stewart's Time After Time, a song that Fiona fell in love with. The guests did not expect the couple to make such a dramatic entrance, and gave much enthusiastic applause.
Weny, one of the bride's best friends, then delivered an innovative "speech", which was really a series of hilarious photographs. The first one, for example, was Fiona's initial vision of her ideal husband. Weny said it was difficult to find someone of such aristocratic bearing in Singapore, then introduced Fiona to a guy who looked more like him. She brought the house down.
The next surprise was my duet with another of Fiona's girl friends, Oceania. Oceania was reluctant to sing at first, but I persuaded her to do so, knowing that it would delight Fiona. It was easy to convince Oceania once I knew she was a fan of Jolin Tsai. What better song than 今天你要嫁给我 (You're Marrying Me Today)?
Not all surprises were meant for the couple. We also celebrated the birthdays of Susan (Fiona's sister-in-law) and Patrizio (a friend of the couple) by singing the birthday song to live accompaniment.
Finally, I had the pleasure of inviting a gentleman called Mr Wang, who looked to be in his sixties. He delivered a rousing rendition of The Wedding, as a surprise gift for the couple.
It was definitely a wedding to remember. Congratulations, Fiona and Edison!

Songs To Recommend:
Time After Time - a beautiful song. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to sing it. Anyone wants to help me fulfill my wish?
Stupid Cupid - a great addition to our dance repertoire. A fun, flirty number!
Compliments from Edison and Fiona:
Dear Hsin Yeow, Hui Bing, Jonathan & Jonathan,
Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Our heartiest appreciation for your performance on our wedding dinner, and specially for Hsin Yeow who was the emcee of the event. From the beginning, we put our trust on A Little Dream to create the ambience and entertaining evening for our family and guests. It turned out great, and they loved it very much.
We specially love the 1st march-in when you sang All I Ask Of You, overall on how you got the guests to participate, and the timing for every single song that you put along with the dedication delivered to the guests. Remarkable talent and professionalism you all have put in.
We hope to see you around in the future occasions, perhaps in any of our families, friends, or relatives weddings, or perhaps our own anniversary! ;) Thanks for being the great part of our wedding celebration.
Best appreciation,
Edison & Fiona

Hsin Yeow's thoughts: I'm A Believer
Carrie and Mats' wedding celebration was an intimate and elegant affair. All their guests were dressed up to the nines, and it was so quiet during the solemnisation ceremony that you could hear a pin drop.
Hence, I was surprised by some of Carrie and Mats' song choices for their wedding. For the celebratory music after the solemnisation, Carrie wanted a rock version of Canon In D, because it's "fun".
They also wanted this song to be performed at their wedding, and here's why:
"That was out first trip together in Bintan while he came back to look for me and asked me to join him in Sweden. That was the time when I decided to leave Singapore and try out this relationship with him after a long distance r/ship of 3 months. We saw Shrek on TV in Bintan and thought that the music was really fun!"
We really enjoy performing a song that represents a significant point in a couple's relationship. That is why we highly encourage couples to select the songs they would like us to play at their wedding, and not limit them to a standard list of twenty or thirty songs.
Before I sang the song, I explained to the guests why it was important to them. I also joked that Mats did not remind me of Shrek in any way, but I am sure that Carrie would agree with me that Mats was the Prince to her Princess Fiona.
