Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Love At First Sight

Joanne and See Chuan met at the Yellow Ribbon Project on Sep 2005. Joanne said, "It was love at first sight! We started to exchange e-mails/SMSes after that, but we only got together during my 21st birthday celebration; he came to my rescue when my colleagues threw me into the swimming pool!"

Joanne continued, "Just like the movie "My Sassy Girl", I was stubborn and domineering. Whereas he was the entire opposite of me: gentle, soft-spoken, mild-tempered, easy-going."

See Chuan had the following to say about Joanne, "She has been very helpful and caring towards me throughout the 3-year relationship. She really takes care of me when I'm not feeling well, and she's always be there for me when I'm down."

Looks like this is a perfect match!

Dehe and Xiuzhen

Dehe and Xiuzhen saw me perform at Kenneth and Yuwei's wedding, and called me soon after to engage me to sing and host their wedding.

Right away I knew I'd enjoy myself at their wedding, because Dehe wanted to perform for his lovely wife. He even knew which song to choose: Richard Marx's Now and Forever.

There was a moment of silence when Dehe walked in alone and started singing, and when the guests caught on, they broke into enthusiastic applause. At the other end of the ballroom, Xiuzhen was led into the ballroom by her father. The bride and groom met in front of the stage, just as Dehe crooned, "Now and forever, I will be your man." It was a beautiful and touching moment.

Proposal Story:

When I asked Dehe what interests he and Xiuzhen shared, he told me that one of them was travel. The furthest city they had been to together was Shanghai, but they would really love to tour Europe some day.

The romantic guy also chose to propose to Xiuzhen along the quiet stretch of road next to the Changi Airport runway. He popped the question while planes were taking off into the starry night sky, bringing travellers to different parts of the globe. One day, I thought to myself, both of you will be catching that flight to Europe together, fulfilling that dream, and many others to come.
