Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Baby I Love Your Way

After eating weird black stuff from a diaper, wearing a red plastic bag as underwear, fishing out mahjong tiles in ice-cold water with his toes, Wilson was still denied entrance into the room where Li Yan was patiently waiting. Wilson, bent on one knee, panted out this plea, "Darling, I shook my bum for you, let me in!" (He was referring to an earlier challenge where he had to trace the shape of a heart while wearing the said underwear.)

I had a brief encounter with Wilson before the dinner began, and he told me that he had to wake up at 4.30am to get ready! And although he was tired by the day's proceedings, his smile never left his face. It was also clear that he was very excited to be finally married to Li Yan, and his enthusiasm rubbed off on me.

I had the pleasure of performing with Hui Ming and Ein Ein. I've always liked Hui Ming's warm timbre, and Ein's keyboard skills were so good the restaurant manager remarked that it was as if we were playing a CD!

Congratulations Wilson and Li Yan! Thank you for your faith in us, and we hope you enjoyed our performance as much as we did singing for you. May you light up each other's lives every day henceforth!

Bevlyn's thoughts: Precious

Kersin is one of my best friends since our secondary school days. I have witnessed her cranky ways from childhood to adulthood, and she remains one of my generators for simple happiness. To witness her getting married to someone who loves and cherishes her was simply, surreal (I mean, how is it possible to have another guy with an equal dose of crankiness to match her?).

Having emailed each other in a very pen-pal method for 3 years, Zhihao finally garnered enough courage to ask her out for a meetup one day. According to Kersin, she did not bother dressing up - she was even having an unkempt hairdo and wearing her spectacles. Still, that did not mean a thing because the friendship built up over the years was strong as steel.

The banquet was a sweet and cosy one, mainly because of the warm family members and guests. The guests were very responsive to every song we sang, but the highlight of the evening definitely had to be a special song dedication from Kersin's mother who volunteered to sing The Moon Represents My Heart (月亮代表我的心). She dedicated the song to Kersin, to let her know her love for Kersin is represented by the moon. She finished the song to thunderous applause and shouts of encore, and to appease the guests, she took on another Teresa Teng's classic 我只在乎你 (I Only Care For You). This time round, she dedicated the song to her newly-acquired son-in-law, instructing him to feel this for Kersin for the rest of his life.

Precious by Yuna Ito - This is one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard, and lyrics very apt for weddings too. Listen here and read here. Definitely a must-have for Japanese fanatics.

Hsin Yeow's thoughts: 意犹未尽 (Lingering Taste)



When I stepped out of the taxi, I was pleasantly surprised by the new Bukit Batok Civil Service Club, where Sabrina and Eric's wedding dinner was held.

It was built on the hill slopes, and boasted stunning views and beautiful landscaping. But I couldn't spend too much time admiring the scenery, and hurried to the Crystal Ballroom on the fourth floor.

When I arrived, Bevlyn, Ji Xiang and Ein Ein were already doing their sound check. We remarked that the ballroom stage looked very much like one you would see at a glitzy awards ceremony, as numerous lighted panels formed the backdrop. Take a look!

We were extremely satisfied with the assistance given by the tech crew and the wait staff. They were very professional, and obviously well-trained.

All Bevlyn and I had to focus on was the singing. It was initially nerve-wracking when we started, because we realised our images were projected on two huge screens at both sides of the ballroom. It was like we were giving a concert! But we got used to it, and got a kick out of looking at the magnified images of our faces.

A few days after the wedding would be Sabrina and Eric's 10th anniversary as a couple. It was quite clear, from the way they teased each other when I first met them, that they were very much in love.
