At The Beginning...
To start you off, here are our answers to your burning questions.
And do read our quick round up of 2008.

I am most blessed, to be able to record another album after the EP album I'd released in 2008. This is all made possible because I'm now under the wings of S2S, a Japanese record label which specialises in audiophile music, and I'm truly very happy to be part of this family since last November. We got into action quickly to put together a 2-CD album, which incorporates the 6 tracks from my EP album. I can only say I'm humbled by the help from so many super talented musicians, and the mastering which was done in Japan!
Mostly classics rearranged with a jazz spin, I hope you'll enjoy the music. Do feel free to preview the songs at MySpace, Reverbnation, or at my blog. The album is now available at HMV, That CD Shop, Gramophone, Sembawang Music, MJ Multimedia, CD Plus, New Village, Roxy Disc, Ears, and Chinatown shops …in Singapore. It’s also available in Thailand, Indonesia, and Hong Kong now. In 2 weeks’ time, it’ll be available in Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea & Philippines.
I hope you'll buy a copy to support local music. Hope you'll like the album! :)
Love,
Bevlyn

When the band was setting up and doing soundcheck, Sean came to me and asked for a favour. Something went wrong with the audio component for the photo montage, and he wondered if the band could perform a song while the montage rolled. I was like "Of course!" The song they had originally embedded was "I'm Yours", which was in our repertoire. So we were more than happy to bring on the song!
And unknown to Swee Wei, Sean had also approached the band earlier to practise a song for his bride. After the speech, Sean told the guests, "And now, I'd like to sing a song for my bride...". Swee Wei went "Huh?" in disbelief. Everybody cheered. I was feeling a bit nervous, because I was supposed to hand the lyrics to Sean at this part of the speech, but he decided at the eleventh hour that he didn't need it. My fears were unfounded because once he looked into Swee Wei's eyes and sing the song to her, the lyrics came tumbling out naturally, and Swee Wei was visibly moved to tears.
Love me tender Love me sweet Never let me go.
You have made my life complete And I love you so.
Love me tender Love me true All my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin I love you And I always will
Mission accomplished :)
Here's wishing Sean and Swee Wei a very blissful marriage ahead from Ian and me! Congratulations! :)
Band: Bevlyn & Ian
Repertoire:
L-O-V-E (1st march-in), So Nice, I’m Yours, Eternal Flame, 一人一半 (Half for You & Half for Me), She, Wonderful Tonight, You Belong To Me, 每天爱你多一些 (Loving You More Each Day), Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Lovin’ You
Have I Told You Lately? (2nd march-in), Love Me Tender, That’s What Friends are For, Cheek to Cheek, Dream a Little Dream, Fallen, Sway, La Vie En Rose, Quizas Quizas, If We Hold On Together, 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart)
"I'll also like to thank my husband, thank you for not having the 7-year itch...". Everyone laughed when they hear Audrey say this in her thank you speech. Funny as it might sound, I thought it showed how Audrey does not take their dating-marathon relationship for granted. So after a long 7-year dating marathon, Richard and Audrey finally tied the knots at Sentosa, which holds a special meaning in their hearts. When the band arrived, it was drizzling a little, and we saw Richard and Audrey having their solemnsation with many of their close friends and family outside The Pavilion. :)
The banquet started off with Tien-yao and I singing "I Finally Found Someone", along with Raziz's wonderful saxophone accompaniment. Being on the high stage meant that we could oversee most of the guests, and we were very happy to see some of the guests mouthing along the lyrics with us in between their bites!
The 2nd march-in is a special song which touched Audrey a lot when watching the Korean drama serial "Boys Before Flowers". So we learned the song specially for her, with Tien-yao on guitar and Raziz on saxophone:
The couple also shared a video clip which featured their close friends' congratulatory messages, which I find is always a memorable keepsake. :)
I was also very amused when a female elderly guest came up to me during my break and asked if I could sing "Nobody". Who could have imagined the reach of this song? :)
And though it was a month to Christmas, Richard and Audrey thought it would be nice for the band to perform 1 Christmas song, and we did! All I Want For Christmas Is You:
Congratulations once again Richard and Audrey! :)
Band: Bevlyn, Tien-yao & Raziz
Repertoire:
I Finally Found Someone (1st March-in), Bubbly, Valentine, 爱你不是兩三天 (I've Loved You for a While), Destiny, Somewhere, ,I’m Yours, Your Love (Is The Greatest Gift Of All), 小夫妻 (Little Couple), My Cherie Amour, Angels Brought Me Here, The Gift
I Know (2nd March-in), La Vie En Rose, 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), Pretty World , Eternal Flame, 有你真好 (It's Wonderful With You Around), For No Reason, All I Want For Christmas Is You, Built To Last, 今天你要嫁给我 (You're Marrying Me Today!)
Jit & Brell have been together for 7 years, and after being engaged for 3 the last years, they finally tied the knots this November. Here's the couple's answer to me when I asked if they have any interesting stories to share:
"Brell learnt not to let Jit organize holidays after he arranged a weeklong trip to Russia, with a visa for only two days, which resulted in the Singapore Consulate having to rush to our aid in Moscow and force a passport official who had earlier denied us a new visa, to grant us an extension and get us out of trouble a few hours before our visas expired.
Jit learnt that Brell does tend to know what’s best after, insisting on moving his belongings to another apartment in paper and plastic bags, in an open top van, only for it to rain and everything to fall out when picked up.
Jit also learnt that Brell could probably set a record for watching Horror films after making him sit through 8 horror films in 1 weekend.
Brell also learnt that, Liverpool are the greatest team on the planet, that Steven Gerrard is amazing, that Fernando Torres comes from Spain and that Manchester United are a pile of crap"
So, after reading this, I was really curious to meet the couple for myself! On the big day, I was received by the gentle Jit, and the graceful Brell (I LOVE her wedding dress and head veil, will post photo soon). The party was like a mini-world; many guests flew in for the wedding celebration, so we had many guests of different nationalities and races!
I could not help but notice that Jit and Brell had chosen many songs by British artists: Elton John, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Ronan Keating etc. There were many British among the guests afterall :)
The guests were especially appreciative of the songs, especially the Mandarin songs, and the classics and jazz songs. We also did a special song - it was the birthday of Brell's father, so the band did an impromptu rendition of the Happy Birthday song for him :)
On a side note, other than meeting Sam from Vocare Media (we've a promotion with them here), I also bumped into a long lost friend from our secondary school days! Mindy was the official photographer for Jit and Brell's wedding. She recognised me and came up to say hi; imagine my surprise, after more than 10 years from school! She is now a budding, award-winning full-time photographer. Check out her photos here.
So, after our performance, the party was long from over. According to the programme I received, the party continued at La Villa, the lovely alfresco dining restaurant at River Valley Road. Well, they had wedding celebrations in the UK, Hong Kong, and now Singapore, which truly made a marathon of wedding celebrations. In Brell's own words "Let's Party!". And sure they did! :)
Band: Bevlyn & Jixiang
Repertoire:
You Are the Sunshine Of My Life, Kiss Me, 喜欢你 (Liking You), Chasing Cars, Your Song, Angel, It Had to be You, Sea of Love, Yellow, 爱很简单 (Love is Simple), Wonderful Tonight, Fly Me to the Moon, When You Tell Me that You Love Me, When You Say Nothing At All, 星晴 (Stars in a Clear Sky), 至少还有你 (There's Still You), Stand by Me, Lovin’ You, Come Away with Me, 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), Unforgettable, I’m Yours

As requested by the couple, we performed Greatest Day (by Take That) for the 1st march-in. Fantastic lyrics:
Today this could be
The greatest day of our lives.
Before it all ends
Before we run out of time
Stay close to me.
Stay close to me
Watch the world come alive tonight
Stay close to me
Megan and Justin finished their 10-year dating marathon, and finally tied the knots on 18 Nov 09 @ Capella. The affable Justin took the stage himself to address the guests after the 1st march-in, and introduced a travel montage which they put together. "Not to show you a travel documentary, but to share with you the happy moments we had when we travelled, and also to show you how happy we really were when we were together"
And, not forgetting the real wedding cake which they ordered specially for this celebration...

And the couple's friends presented a cute caricature of the couple with a travel theme as a surprise gift for them:

Incidentally, the day was also the birthday of Justin's mother. So the band was more than happy to sing a Happy Birthday song for her when the cake was presented to the guests!
I asked Justin later why he wanted to have a wedding lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, he replied that he had loved for the guests to enjoy the scenic view one can see from the huge window panel. Indeed, the band was so attracted to the swimming pool we regretted not bringing our swimming barangs along... (just kidding):

The band doing a rehearsal and soundcheck:
Our first time dining at The Knolls at Capella. All thanks to Justin and Megan for this sumptuous meal before our performance:
Congratulations to the lovely couple!!! May you have many bountiful babies soon!
Check out these beautiful photos by Eng Hong of 39 East (as with the band photos above)! Our tie-up promotions here.

Compliments from Justin & Megan:
Dear Bevlyn, Ein Ein and Clarence,
Megan and I would just like to drop you A Little Note (pardon the pun!) to thank you for putting up such a fantastic performance at our wedding lunch yesterday!!
Our guests really loved your performance and Bevlyn’s lovely singing – there were so many compliments that we don’t know how to start relaying them to you. The oldies really loved the Deng Lijun songs and the ‘not-too-old’ ones loved everything from “If You Could What I see” to “爱很简单” to “恋之憩” (which sounded really beautiful ‘live’ – it’s an all-time favourite of our not-too-young friends). We loved all the songs (and it’s not just cos’ we chose them!) – including the birthday rendition for my mum.
We very much enjoyed the wedding and hope you did too – your performance created such a warm and touching atmosphere that we couldn’t have asked for more. Once again, our sincere appreciation for all your help – not just on the actual day, but the days/weeks of preparations and ding-dong emails leading up to it as well!!
Warmest regards,
Justin & Megan
This was a wedding of familiar faces for me. First of, I was welcome by Wei Yang; he was one of the emcees for that evening, and one of our 'ex-couples'! It seemed only yesterday that we performed for Wei Yang and Geok En exactly one year ago! I also caught a glimpse of James at the wedding (we sang for James and Germaine in July this year) but had no time to catch up with him :(
Singing at this wedding hence brought back some memories for me, but this wedding created some great memories for me too! It was the first time Ian and I collaborated with our guitarist Justin, and boy, we had such a good time! Justin also sang with me on 3 duets - Lucky, Quando Quando Quando and Way Back Into Love. My favourite was the lighthearted song Paper Moon, and That's Amore:
Jennifer and Kah Onn gave a very healtfelt speech to thank their parents and friends for making the biggest day of their lives possible; Jennifer had to try her hardest not to break down while giving her thanks to her parent, and I wished it could be made easier for her!
A very big thank you to Kah Onn and Jennifer for inviting us to perform at their wedding celebration. Who knows, we might see them at other friends' weddings too! Congratulations again!!

Band: Bevlyn, Justin & Ian
Repertoire:
Lucky (1st March-in), Better Together, Bubbly, Grow Old with You, Just The Way You Are, Close to You, Dream a Little Dream, So Nice, First of May, You Are the Sunshine of My Life, For Once in My Life
I Only Wanna Be with You (2nd March-in), L-O-V-E, Paper Moon, Quando Quando Quando, Fallen, Come Fly with Me, It Had to be You, Fly Me to the Moon, That’s Amore, Happy Together, Way Back Into Love
It was my first time at Meritus Mandarin's Mandarin Court, and I fell in love with it once I stepped foot into the three-tiered ballroom - what a neat concept! Performing on the side stage was a new experience because we had guests looking at us from the 3 levels (of different angles). The sound system was also wonderful :)

When Ein and I performed the 1st march-in song "From This Moment", Joyce and Dave walked down the stairs across the 3 levels and finally up the stage to cut the wedding cake. We then proceeded with our first set of 45min, which included some of my personal favourites:
屬於 (Belong) by Fish Leong
求婚 (Proposal) by 赵咏华
But for the couple, their favourite must be 世界唯一的你 (The Only You In The World). Joyce had shared with me their proposal story: During one of their holiday trips in Taiwan, Dave brought Joyce to take a ride in a ferris wheel, and when their capsule was on the tip-top, Dave kneeled down, and sang this song to propose to her . Hence Joyce took the opportunity to use our band to dedicate this song back to her one and only one in the world, Dave!

We were also intrigued by the photography system for the evening by Martin T Studio; the wireless system allowed photographs just taken by the photographer to be projected onto the big screen almost instantaneously!
It was also certainly great moments for the band when we had a choir of guests singing along from their seats to our last song for that evening - 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart). Here's our warmest wishes to Dave and Joyce, wishing them everlasting bliss and bountiful babies soon!

Band: Bevlyn, Ein Ein
Repertoire:

Compliments from Dave & Joyce:
We just hope to attend any friends/relatives wedding with you singing so we can really sit down to enjoy it haha.
Wish you all the best and take care ya:)

I met up with Shanyi in Feb earlier this year to find out more about the wedding song she wanted me to write for her hubby Zijie. Listening to their love story, and meeting and hearing her for myself definitely helped me to capture their personalities, which is critical for creation of the song :)
Time flashed by - I came up with the song, she filled in the lyrics, I got my musicians to come up with the music arrangement, we went to studio to record her voice, and voila some minor post-production editing and we're good to go. The song was intended to be embedded in a photo montage presentation Shanyi had done for Zijie, as a surprise.
We can't let you hear the whole song, but here's a snippet of the song - the intro (arranged by James and Shawn) :)
Before the 1st march-in, I witnessed the best wedding ideo I had ever seen - an artistic documentary which brought out the love story and emotions with the couple's acting, capturing only their hands/bodies and walking etc, never once showing their faces. Shanyi's voice was amazing in delivering their love story too. Wish I could share with you!
Then the live band, Chiou Yun on piano and Jixiang on guitar, came in and supported his singing while Zijie and Shanyi marched in to the stage for their cake-cutting.

We had such a splendid time performing (though Chiou Yun got a slight migraine that evening). Here's us taking a breather outside the ballroom while waiting for the 2nd march-in:

Repertoire:
就是爱你 (Just Loving You), 遇见 (Encounter), 流星下的愿 (The Wish Upon a Falling Star), 恋爱频率 (Frequency of Love), 爱是永恒 (Love is Eternal),黑白配 (Ebony and Ivory), 在我生命中的每一天 (Everyday of My Life), 另一个天堂 (The Other Heaven), 一人一半 (Half for You and Half for Me), 夜来香 (Tuberose), 万水千山总是情 (It All Comes Down to Love), 南海姑娘 (The Hainanese Girl)
Love Will Keep Us Alive - 2nd march-in, In the Still of the Night, Someone to Watch Over Me, Something Stupid, When You Say Nothing At All, The Way You Look Tonight, Quando Quando Quando, For Once in My Life, Fly Me to the Moon, Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?, L-O-V-E , I’m Yours
I was so impressed when Melissa handed me this invitation card, along with the 'movie ticket' to the "The movie":

Indeed, it was like a movie premiere with life-size standees of the "lead characters" outside the "theatre hall":

Another highlight was the 2nd march-in; to be in line with the 'movie' theme, the couple used the James Bond soundtrack. Their 'brothers and sisters' marched in first, split into 2 files, held out their colourful plastic guns and came up with various 'James Bond" and "Bond Girl"poses. Definitely a sight hard to forget!
The band had a lot of fun performing some of the couple parents' favourite songs. Jerome sang Paul's dad's favourite song "人生如梦 (Life's Like a Dream)" while I sang "Yesterday Once More", a favourite of Paul's mum. Melissa's dad loves the song 榕树下 (Under the Banyan Tree); I knew Jerome was trying his hardest not to laugh when he started the song. Despite himself, he delivered the song to much applause at the end of the song!
Thank you Paul and Melissa for inviting us to be a part of this 'movie', we're so honoured to be casted! Congratulations again!

Band: Bevlyn, Jerome, Jixiang, Brad
Repertoire:
Close to You, 两只恋人 (Two Lovers), 期待爱 (Looking Forward to Love), Dreaming of You, Sing A Long Song, 一首简单的歌 (A Simple Song), I Have a Dream, 只对你说 (I'll Only Say It to You), I’m Yours, 专署天使 (Exclusive Angel), 恋爱频率 (Frequency of Love),
Sugar Sugar, 爱很间单 (Love is Simple), 人生如梦 (Life's Like a Dream), Yesterday Once More, 榕树下 (Under the Banyan Tree), 心愿便利贴 (Post-it Sticker of Hope), That’s What Friends are For, 每天爱你多一些 (Loving You More Each Day), Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, 月佬 (Matchmaker), 制造浪漫 (Creating Romance)
This has to be one of the coolest wedding I've been to.
Niki and Zhi Heng got to know each other from school, but Cupid didn't have its armour strong enough back then to light the fire between the two. Upon graduation, they went separate ways - Niki flew and Zhi Heng sailed. It was only some years later when they caught up with each other again, that sparks flew. One thing they had in common is, they love to skate.
And what better way to demonstrate this common interest which binds them together, than to SKATE-IN!! Instead of the traditional wedding march-in, the couple had a 'skate-in', as in literally, they entered the ballroom on their rollerblades. I picked up skating only recently, and I was really wowed by how they managed to skate on the carpet! Niki told me later it was really tough especially toward the end, but honestly I wouldn't have guess from the captivating smiles on their faces!
Niki and Zhi Heng skated round the ballroom, then a real 3-tier wedding cake was pushed into the ballroom. This cake was special because it was made by a good friend, but also because the friend managed to design a device to rotate the couple figurine on top of the cake!

After cutting the cake, Zhi Heng took a flag in one hand, and with his other hand holding Niki's hand, both of them skated round the ballroom again to thunderous cheers and applause. What a lovely sight. And what other better "cruising" song to skate-in than this song "I Can't Give You Anything (But My Love)". Some of you may remember this song as the song from the "Gatsby" advertisement:
We also sang a song "That's What Friends Are For" to dedicate to the couples' friends on their behalf. But the songs most well-received are the mandarin songs like "每天爱你多一些" (Loving You More Each Day), "追" (Chase), "小夫妻" (Little Couple) etc.
Definitely a smashing wedding! Congratulations once again from A Little Dream!!
Band: Junxiong, Bevlyn, Ein Ein, Boon Chye
Repertoire:
Bubbly, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Lonely Afternoon, 每天爱你多一些 (Loving You More Each Day), Destiny, Fly Me to the Moon, When You Wish Upon a Star, 追 (Chase), Colour of My Love, If, My Cherie Amour, When I’m 64
I Can’t Give You Anything But My Love, That’s What Friends Are For, If We Hold On Together, 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), 永遠にともに (Together Forever), 在我生命中的每一天 (Everyday of My Life), 爱是永恒 (Love is Eternal), 小夫妻 (Little Couple), Sway
27 Oct 2009 not only marked Ing Jen and Ashley's 5th year anniversary together, it also turned a page to the next chapter of their love life - as husband and wife. They met in Hawaii' as they went to the same university, did homework together at Starbucks, and eventually fell in love with each other. In the couples' own words:
Jen: The moment I saw her felt that she is the one and the more I get to know her I knew I was correct for the start. She is exceptionally beautiful both on the outside and inside…. She is more of the most amazing person I have met.
Ashley: The longer I spend time with him, I was quite certain that he is the one who I’ve been waiting for. We took care of each other while we study in Hawaii’ and made a lot of lovely memories. We had long distance relationship after Jen graduated and went back to Singapore. During that period, our relationship grew stronger and made me feel once again how important he is in my life.
The band started off by dedicating the song "I Owe You" by Lee Greenwood to Ashley's mother, on behalf of Ashley. It is a song really suitable to dedicate to parents:
The couple also shared a photo montage of their wedding reception in Korea, and for their 3rd march-in, the couple was dressed in the Korean traditional wedding costumes, a rare sight to behold here in Singapore.

Band: Bevlyn, James, Fabian
Repertoire:
I Owe You, Let There be Love, For No Reason, Close to You, Try to remember, So Nice, How Deep is Your Love, Cheek to Cheek, You Are so Beautiful, When You Say Nothing At All, If I Ain’t Got You, I’m Yours
Come Fly With Me (2nd march-in), L-O-V-E, Everything, What a Wonderful World, Lost in Paradise, That’s All, Nobody, For Once In My Life, Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Then Lindt and Luc shared another photo montage, photos specially put together which showed them from their childhood to when they were together as a couple. The couple marched in to the tune of the traditional wedding march. I think the trend of playing the instrumental wedding march for weddings is back! :)

And this is just the 1st half :)
The 2nd half of the wedding was certainly full of surprises for the guests. Lim Hui stood in the center of the stage and played "Canon in D" to Matthew's piano accompaniment. The couple marched in to the left of the dance floor, and the live music faded away. In place of that was a lovely song played from CD to accompany the couple on a waltz item. Luc had initially wanted the idea to be called off, and I'm so glad that they went ahead with the idea in the end, because they were so lovely in that dance!
After the speech, Lindt sprung a surprise on Luc by singing a medley of 2 songs - 绝不能失去你 (Can't Do Without You) + Can't Take My Eyes Off You. For someone who kept claiming to the band that she can't sing, I thought she was very intelligent to string the 2 songs together like this:
(From "绝不能失去你")
oh baby baby baby my baby baby
我决不能失去你
你手心 你声音 还占领我的心
怎能忘记 想你就像是呼吸
oh baby baby baby my baby baby
我决不能失去你
不管你在哪里 我一定会找到你
i love you baby and if it's quite all right
i need you baby to warm the lonely nights
i love you baby, trust in me when i say
i love you baby, don't let me down i pray
i love you baby, now that i've found you stay
and let me love you baby, let me love you
The most hilarious part for me was how Lindt tried to steal moments away from Luc to come over to us and try to do a quick rehearsal. Luc came over twice and we had to pretend we were just discussing 'stuff'. Those were indeed heart attack moments :)
And here's an excerpt of what Lindt wrote to us about her love story with Luc:
We met in poly. ..... I didnt have a good impression of him as his phone always ring in the lecture hall, and his dress code is horrible. Never iron his T-shirt, and wear slipper. But a few of my classmates say he is cute... well.... that make me look a few more eyes at him and found him not too bad......

Our heartiest congratulations to Luc and Lindt!!

Compliments from the couple:
It was a pleasant and elegant wedding banquet. We were entertained by Eric and Angeline’s pre-wedding photoshoot in MTV style done in Hong Kong - one featured the couple in the daytime, and the other featured them in the night-time. I personally liked the yacht and the sea shots. Ah… I want that for my photoshoot too… =)
We totally did not have any expectations when we were told to invite Hui Yi, an ex-student of Angeline when she taught in Nanyang School, up the stage to give a "speech". The image of a 7-8 year-old girl on the stage giving her well-wishes to the newly-wed in Mandarin was indeed too adorable for words!
Special mention of the evening goes to Lionel, the couple’s best friend, who sang 2 songs, each a representation of the bride’s and the groom’s heart to each other. For Angeline to Eric was the song "Valentine", and for Eric to Angeline, Lionel sang "Now and Forever". he even prepared a slideshow presentation of the lyrics to share with the guests the meaning of the songs!
Well, then, it’s my turn now. For both of you, 每天爱你多一些 (Loving You More Each Day):
We were also happy to meet Jonathan from the wedding planner, Wedding Acts.
Congratulations once again, Eric and Angeline!
Band: Bevlyn, Sofyan, Ein Ein, Feri
Repertoire:
Everything I Do (I Do It For You), My Love Will Get You Home, Have I Told You Lately?, Your Love (Is The Greatest Gift Of All), Thank You for Loving Me, From This Moment, No Matter What, 甜蜜蜜 (Sweetness), 世界唯一的你 (The Special You in This World), If I Ain’t Got You, Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You

This wedding brings me good funny memories.
First off, the band was engaged by Ashlyn for her beloved husband Shaun as a surprise - Shaun was the one who liked my music and asked Ashlyn to check out my cd. Unknown to him, Ashlyn contacted me on the sly, and we conspired (along with the hotel staff and wedding helpers) to keep the band a hush hush....well...until after the 1st march-in. Ashlyn recounted to me after the wedding what roughly happened after they sat down after the 1st march-in:
Ashlyn: "Did you notice anything different about the 1st march-in music?"
Shaun: "No...why? What's wrong?"
Ashlyn: (turned to the band and pointed)
(Bevlyn waved to Shaun and Ashlyn)
I thought that was really quite hilarious! :'D
Other than that bit, the best man and the bridesmaid both gave very entertaining speeches, I have to say. The best man shared that he knew Shaun many years ago when Shaun had "long orange hair" (quite hard to imagine). One of the punch lines he delivered was, "A man is not completed, until he got married.........and then he's finished". That joke aside, he commented that he had never seen a lovelier Shaun, and that is all thanks to Ashlyn who brought out the best in him. Awwwww...
The bridesmaid's speech was indeed an entertainingly gender-biased one:
Advice to Ashlyn: Do not buy a new brand of beer just because it is on sale.
Advice to Shaun:
1. In the wedding, the woman will always have the last say. Whatever the man says after what the woman says is the start of a new argument.
2. Put your hand on Ashlyn's hand now, look into her lovely eyes, and savour this moment. This might be the last time you have the upper hand. :)
And like any good sabotage, Shaun was asked to re-enact the proposal; without hesitation, he went down on his knees and re-enacted the proposal! That's the way huh!
My favourite part of the wedding had to be when Shaun and Ashlyn walked past the band while going round tables, and Shaun suddenly stopped Ashlyn and danced to our rendition of L-O-V-E. Impromptu moments like these make it the more romantic!

Congratulations Shaun and Ashlyn, we're so happy to be 'the surprise' :D
Here's wishing you a blissful and joyful marriage!

Compliments from the couple:
Dear Bevlyn :)
Magenta and Chin Hong had arranged for a violinist, Lin Hui, to perform violin solo during the cocktail session to welcome their guests to the wedding. And then almost as if to usher the crowd into the ballroom, the band was scheduled to start singing 2 songs at 8pm. And sure enough, 2 songs after, the 1st march-in occured shortly.
With Jixiang on guitar, Shawn on percussion, and I on the vocals, we entertained the guests mainly with the crowd-pleasing classics chosen by Magenta and Chin Hong. I especially enjoyed 在你身边 (By Your Side), and the nostalgic 新谣 (folk song) 关怀方式 (The Way Of Caring):
The couple dedicated "月亮代表我的心" (The Moon Represents My Heart) to their parents, and "That's What Friends Are For" to their friends and helpers for helping out. In return, I dedicated "Wonderful Tonight" to Magenta, because she really looked gorgeous that evening!

Thank you Chin Hong and Magenta, we had a great time performing to your guests and here's wishing you a marriage always filled with simple joy in life!! Congratulations!

Poor Kym was not feeling well a week before her wedding. But looking at her radiant face on her wedding day, you wouldn't have known she had difficulty getting out of bed just a few days before.
Kym and Jon had several sporting friends who were intent on making the couple's first entrance into the ballroom an eye- and ear-popping one. It wasn't quite the 21-gun salute, but more than ten confetti guns were fired up as the couple took a long walk to the stage.

Just look at the floor of the stage!

One of the highlights of the wedding was a 'secret' slideshow Jon had prepared in honour of Kym. It was lovingly put together, and captured the highlights of their courtship.
What touched my heart (and I'm sure the hearts of many others) was a short clip of Jonathan's proposal, which was brilliantly done, by the way. We saw Jonathan strumming on a guitar, with a banner unfurling in the background, with the words, "Will you marry me?" Kym was obviously taken aback, and couldn't stop laughing.

Congrats Jonathan and Kym! It was a pleasure to perform at your wedding. Thank you for inviting us, and we hope that every day of your marriage will be filled with joy, surprises and laughter!

Compliments:
We first heard Bevlyn and Hsin Yeow at our cousin's wedding 2 years ago. We fell in love with their singing and we decided then, that we must have them sing at our wedding too!!!
We didn't have the opportunity to listen to them sing throughout our wedding. However, Bevlyn caught both our attention when she started singing 'I Love You' by Joanna Wang. We felt she sounded like the real rendition!!!
We received many good comments from our guests about Hsin Yeow and the band's performance. Many felt that their singing livened up the atmosphere and 1 of our friend even asked for their contact!
Thank you for the good job! We are looking forward to hear you guys sing at another cousin's wedding in December. This time we will be able to enjoy your performance!!! =D
Regards,
Jon & Kym
We first got to know David when he enthusiastically stepped up to the band after our performance at Ying Ying and Jonaven's wedding in 2007. We were taken aback (because Singaporean audience are seldom warm and enthusiastic), but very happy to get to know David and knew about his love for live music. We saw him again a month later when he went down to one of the wedding fairs we did at Marina Square. So to perform at his wedding 2 years down the road, I think we have really come full circle :)
The wedding was definitely a lively one, not only due to the live music by the live band, but also by the meticulous and thoughtful planning on David's part. After showing the guests a photo montage of the couple's childhood photos, David arranged for me to first sing "How Do I Live" before we performed 天天夜夜 (Every Day Every Night)", which cued the grand entrance of David and Diana into the ballroom.
And for most couples who got to know each other because of common friends, I thought it important to acknowledge their 'match-makers'. David and Diana got to know each other due to their colleagues Adeline and Kelvin and things picked up swiftly from there as they shared many common interests (eg. live music and marketing and management theories and strategies amongst others). They officially became steads on 31 Mar 07, and 2 years later, they solemnised the marriage on 31 Mar 09.
The couple also shared a video featuring their close friends giving their best wishes, which is definitely a good keepsake in many years to come. After the 2nd march-in, David sprung a surprise on Diana - he had bought a diamond pendant for his bride, a very thoughtful gesture, in my humble opinion. He put on the necklace for Diana, and announced that he would next like to serenade his bride with a song 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. A song which speaks a thousand words, from the days of doing OT in office when they first got to know each other...
David's rendition was nothing short of spectacular. Diana, you are such a lucky gal! :)
Thank you David and Diana for getting us to be a part of your wedding celebration, we will remember this wedding in many years to come. We wish you and Diana every little joy in life!

Compliments from David & Diana:
We wanted the guests to share our joy, get to eat some really good food, and enjoy the music that was dedicated for them. We have done it!! Thanks to your help, we managed to entertain our guests to no end. They appreciated the entire wedding, as the value was far more well worthy than what they have paid for in their Ang Pao $$ (^_^)
Perhaps, wedding banquets should not be a dull event with the usual march-ins, doing yum seng toasting, and having the food.. A Little Dream, in my opinion, has changed the way how weddings are being carried out in contemporary times. Through the effects of Bevlyn and A Little Dream, it's really becoming a trend and a must to engage a band of wedding singers to perform in today's wedding banquets to entertain the guests.
Congratulations! I am sure A Little Dream would continue to be a popular name and an ever successful band. You are the reason why I felt in love with attending wedding banquets - cause' I may have a chance to see you guys perform! (I used to complain because of the 'red bomb')
For the performers:
Bev, I have 100% confidence that you will make my wedding a success! I want nobody nobody but U!! Your vocals have touched the hearts of my guests, and I am both thankful and appreciative. I also have a few guests who were so impressed by Jerome's 'Jacky Cheung alike' vocal, they were asking me for his contact for future functions to sing Chinese/Canto songs!!
Your light-hearted way of emceeing and thoughtfulness, coupled with Jerome's funny and delightful speeches, have certainly made my wedding lunch a great and unforgettable event.
Also, I am so glad Ein was there to back me up when I was singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". She has been a terrific keyboardist and I certainly anticipate to see her in other weddings and youtube videos ;-) & not forgetting Lim Hui and her new electric violin which makes it's debut in my wedding lunch!! Woah~I am so honored!!
With you, Ein, Jerome & Lim Hui on the stage, what else can I ask for? You guys should go forth to Taiwan and kick some asses in Xing Guang Da Dao!!
Best Wishes,
David & Diana
Lincoln也准备了一首now and forever献给Audrina。
Lincoln

I read it on newspapers recently that it is getting more popular for young couples to take pre-wedding photos abroad, and Calvin and Grace did just that! Before the lovely couple marched into the ballroom, the guests were shown a series of breathtaking pre-wedding photos the couple had taken in Venice, Italy. Here's some for your preview!
It was a wedding luncheon, and I thought the songs handpicked by Calvin and Grace were most appropriate to entertain their guests - a good mixture of jazz, pop and mandarin pop. The upbeat jazz numbers, especially their 1st march-in song "It Had To Be You" set the swingy mood for the afternoon, and we continued this mood for a while with songs like "Let There Be Love", "La Vie En Rose" etc. One song I love in particular to learn and sing for this wedding is "I'll Follow You Into The Dark". Calvin and Grace gave me appreciative applause after our rendition, but really, we enjoyed the song as much too!
Calvin had earlier asked me to perform my original "当我八十岁" (When I'm 80) right after his speech, for reasons he did not share with me. It was only later that I got to know the reason. To end his speech, he looked at Grace lovingly and said, "I will still love you and dote on you when we're 80 years old". That, is probably the message I wanted to convey when I first wrote the song :)
Thank you Calvin and Grace for all the good memories of your wedding celebration. We wish you all the love and happiness and many more blissful years to come!
