Bevlyn's thoughts: 把你藏起来 (Hide You Up)

Shangjuan contacted us in Jan this year, and though many would think it a little too early to be planning for a live band six months before the actual day, I thought she had done well by 'booking' us first (without even previewing us). Truth is, we found out later we had to turn away so many inquiries on this HOT day!

It was my first time performing at Arena Country Club, and we hired the fantabulous sound system from Boon Music. I have to say I totally relished the performance because of the great sound system, the steady musicians (Ein and Kangyang), and the appreciative guests who gave us applause throughout the evening.

Singing the songs Kheng Hong and Shang Juan had chosen was quite a challenge because nearly half the songs were new to me. And I was surprised to find out that Shang Juan was the one who had chosen the rocker-songs All About Loving You, I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, I Was Born To Love You, etc. Talk about gender-stereotyping!

The song 把你藏起来 (Hide You Up) must have a significant meaning between the couple because Kheng Hong serenaded Shang Juan with this song during the 'gate-crashing' ceremony, and they also requested for the band to perform this song for their second march-in. It was amazing how radiant the couple looked with the candles lining down the aisle.

I was hit with one funny realisation after the band's performance. A lady who was seated at the table right in front came up to me and identified herself as the mother of one of our musicians, Jonathan Ang! What coincidence! It seemed like the whole of Singapore was out at weddings because Jon was at another wedding!

Songs to recommend:

For the dreamy romantics:
What Will I Do (Natalie Burks)
You And Me Song (The Wannadies)
Falling (Ant & Dec)

For the rockers:
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing (Aerosmith)
I Was Born To Love You (Queen) - One interesting bit is we did a 'remix' of this song in bossa nova!
All About Loving You (Bon Jovi) - I think this is one of those songs of which the MTV successfully tucks at people's heartstrings.

Wedding Tip:

Book your vendors early, especially if your wedding day is a popular one!

Compliments from couple:

Hi bev, thanks for everything. My guests said that the music is very nice and they had a really good time. We had an excellent time too. Thanks!

Shang Juan
