Hsin Yeow's thoughts: 天天想你 (Thinking About You Every Day)
Murphy's Law dictates you will get incurable giggles during solemn occasions, for example, when you are just about to make a vow of enduring love to your future husband.
During the solemnisation ceremony, I could see Yanqing's shoulders heaving ever so slightly, and I was worried that she'd lose her composure. Upon closer observation, I realised that it wasn't Murphy's Law at work. Rather, Edmund was pulling the most incredible faces to make Yanqing laugh. Right there and then, I knew that both of them were a fun-loving couple.
Edmund and Yanqing also made my job so much easier. They selected the songs they wanted for their wedding, and even arranged the order of songs themselves. All I needed to do was pick up the list and sing.
I had some help along the way. My first guest performer was none other than the groom. As I was singing 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), I saw Edmund's lips mouthing the lyrics and singing it to Yanqing. Hence, I quickly walked over, and handed the microphone to him. Edmund looked slightly stunned at first, but he rose to the challenge and sang two verses of the song while gazing deeply into Yanqing's eyes.
My second guest performer was my keyboardist Ein Ein. Edmund wanted us to perform 恋爱频率 (Love Frequency), and asked if Ein Ein could duet with me. Ein Ein was ecstatic at the chance, and practised the song diligently prior to the wedding. After our performance, the audience rewarded her effort with enthusiastic applause.
Thank you, Edmund and Yanqing, for engaging us to perform at your wedding! May the both of you enjoy a life filled with happiness and contentment!

Song To Recommend:
天天想你 (Thinking Of You Every Day) - One of my favourite Mandopop songs of all time. It's a song that inspires you to pour all your emotions into singing it.
Compliments from Edmund and Yanqing:
Hi Hsin Yeow & Ein Ein,
It was a pleasure having you guys perform at our wedding! Our folks were initially skeptical about getting a band but they changed their minds after your hearing you guys sing the first march-in song. They thought the band's performance livened up the atmosphere tremendously and really enjoyed your performance!
Special thanks to Ein Ein who practiced diligently for the mandarin song we requested for! Many guests gave us excellent feedback and commented that you’ve a sweet voice!
Cheers to a wonderful performance and may you guys continue to liven up many other couple's weddings!
Edmund & Yanqing
Wedding Tips:
- If possible, let the band know the order by which songs should be sung. For instance, you might want certain songs to be performed while you're in the ballroom, and not when you have already left to change.
- Be sporting and sing a song for your bride!

Hsin Yeow's thoughts: As Long As You Love Me
I love the way Daina and Liu Yang arranged the order of the songs. There are two distinct sets of music. The first comprised English and Mandarin pop, while the second was exclusively English jazz and classics.
I felt that some songs were very aptly chosen as well. Butterfly Kisses, for example, was the perfect song for the march-in. As I sang the words,
"Walk me down the aisle, Daddy, it's just about time...
Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"
Daina and her father were doing exactly that, walking down the aisle to meet the beaming Liu Yang, who was waiting in front of the stage.

Liu Yang and Daina
I got to perform As Long As You Love Me, the mega-hit from the Backstreet Boys, who were THE boyband in the '90s. It definitely brought back some memories for me, as it did for them.
Feri and Jonathan Lim were a dream team. Initially, I thought that a keyboardist is essential for a wedding band, but I've come to enjoy the combination of a guitarist and saxophonist. The sound system at Act 1 was also superb, which meant that I could sing comfortably instead of having to shout.
Congratulations, Daina and Liu Yang! Thank you for engaging us, and may both of you enjoy many years of wedded bliss!
P.S. For me, Daina and Liu Yang's wedding set the record for earliest commencement time. It began at 7.25pm sharp, which was amazing considering that most dinners start at 8.30pm. How did they accomplish it? By having a small wedding, and repeatedly reminding all guests to come on time for the solemnisation ceremony that preceded the dinner. By arriving early, Daina and Liu Yang's guests were lucky. The hotel had 6 dinners that night, which probably meant that some guests for other weddings had to park elsewhere if they arrived late.

Repertoire:
太美丽 (Too Beautiful), As Long As You Love Me, 大城小爱 (Love In The Big City), Butterfly Kisses, Two Words, I Do (Cherish You), 爱很简单 (Love Is Very Simple), Grow Old With You, 在你身边 (By Your Side), Stuck On You, 最美(Most Beautiful)
Besame Mucho, Quando Quando Quando, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, La Vie En Rose, What The World Needs Now, L-O-V-E, Just The Way You Are, Sway, Fly Me To The Moon, Come Fly With Me, Save The Last Dance For Me
Wedding Tip:
Do remind guests to come early if you know in advance that hotel will be operating at full capacity on your wedding day. Your guests will thank you for it!
Songs To Recommend:
在你身边 (By Your Side) - A simple, heartfelt song by superstar Jacky Cheung. I hope to sing this more often at other weddings!
最美 (Most Beautiful) - Another little-known gem from a duo from China called 羽泉 (Yu Quan). Most people remember it as sung by Taiwanese singer 江美琪 (Jiang Mei Qi), but the lyrics are actually written from a guy's perspective.
Compliments from Daina and Liu Yang: Thank you!
Hi Hsin Yeow, Feri and Jonathan,
Thank you for your fabulous performance for our wedding banquet!
We did not have a chance to hear most of the songs but we have to say all of you have done a great job.
Many of our guests commented that they enjoyed themselves with your performance and what a difference it makes to our wedding!
Thank you once again!
Cheers,
Liu Yang & Daina
