Hsin Yeow's thoughts: This Guy's In Love With You
When Oon took the microphone, the first thing he said was, "This is not a typical wedding reception, it is a wedding PARTY!"
I fully agree. Valerie and Oon infused the celebration with so much of their personality that I never wanted the party to end. I was too busy laughing and enjoying myself.

Imagine being at a party where the hosts gave away items they don't need to their guests, and you'll get a sense of how unconventional and cool Valerie and Oon's wedding was.
For example, Valerie fished out a stack of FHM magazines and said, with characteristic aplomb, "Oon doesn't need these anymore now that he's married to me!" She waved them in the air, and Oon's face changed colour. "Honey, not that edition! You said I could keep that one!"

They were a riot.
When it was time for Valerie to make her speech, what she said resonated with me: "Tonight, it's a celebration of love, not just between the two of us, but love for parents, grandparents, relatives and friends!"
This was apparent when I listened to the speech made by Valerie's father, who was a born comedian. He played the part of an enthusiastic father very well, and claimed he needed time to deliver his speech. At that exact moment, what was supposed to be his speech (but looked more like perforated computer paper), unfolded into several pages that reached the floor!
Halfway through his hilarious speech, Valerie's dad decided to present his daughter and new son-in-law with a tripod. A photography buff, Valerie's dad explained that a tripod was necessary for good photographs. And like a successful marriage, you need constant and firm support from your other half.
Then he delivered the killer line, "And like love, a tripod can GROW!" He proceeded to pull out the tripod extensions, which more than quadrupled its height! We were in stitches!
Congratulations Valerie and Oon! Thank you for engaging us to perform at your fabulous party. May laughter and joy fill your days always.
Band: Hsin Yeow, Bevlyn, Jonathan Ang

All photographs were contributed by eulee, who, incidentally, was the lucky recipient of the FHM magazines!
Repertoire:
Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Fly Me To The Moon, Moon River, C'est Si Bon, Beyond The Sea, Dream A Little Dream, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, This Guy's In Love With You, I've Got You Under My Skin, Have I Told You Lately, Someone To Watch Over Me, Unforgettable
L-O-V-E, What A Wonderful World, What A Difference A Day Made, La Vie En Rose, Here There And Everywhere, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, Perhaps Love, Lover's Concerto, Sometimes When We Touch, Tonight I Celebrate My Love
Song To Recommend:
This Guy's In Love With You - Valerie and Oon chose mainly classic love songs, and you really can't go wrong with this one. A beautiful nugget from the '60s.
Sometimes When We Touch - I'm surprised I haven't sung this at weddings before. A timeless love song.
Compliments from Valerie and Oon:
Dear Bev, Hsin Yeow and Jonathan,
You guys were fantastic!
We're so sorry we didn't get the opportunity to say hi, bye and even thanks to you in person that day at ACM as we were outside on the Terrace when you left.
Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the music and joy that you helped us bring to the party. Many of our friends at the party shared that they loved the music! Thank you once again.
OHhh! And we're so glad we managed to do an audio recording of the whole night's entertainment, so we can always listening to the music on our wedding day!
Though the recording doesn't do justice to the quality of your music and voices, it will always serve as a beautiful reminder of the day. (And yes, we can dance to it at home!!) =) Don't worry, we'll let you know once we've made a copy of the MP3. =)
Thanks once again! We hope you also managed to enjoy the food and also have some fun that night!
Cheers,
Val & Oon

Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Up Close And Personal
Sometimes, couples are unsure of whether they would like to engage a band to perform at one spot throughout the evening, or a group of strollers to sing to every table.
One key consideration is the venue. One place where strolling worked particularly well was the Si Chuan Dou Hua restaurant at UOB Plaza 1.
We had such a great time singing there for Joe's wedding, because the excellent acoustics meant that we could sing and be heard without having to shout.
For Joe and Li Wei, the arrangement was for the band to sing at one spot during our first set, and move around for the second. It was like having the best of both worlds, and we tried it out again for Pennie and Derren's wedding at The Arches.
For Yenny and Cha's wedding, Serene the keyboardist played for the first set, while ZQ and Feri became stroller musicians for the second. Initially, the guests were surprised to see ZQ and Feri up close and personal, but they enjoyed the personalised attention, and even sang along when asked!
Band: ZQ, Serene (1st Set only) and Feri
Repertoire:
1st Set: Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Something Stupid, What A Wonderful World, Have I Told You Lately?, Dream a Little Dream, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, Love Is All Around, Fly Me To The Moon, And I Love You So, She
2nd Set: You Are So Beautiful, Cheek To Cheek, L-O-V-E, Quando Quando Quando, Can’t Smile Without You, A Groovy Kind Of Love, Angels Brought Me Here, I Wanna Make It With You, Lady In Red, Love Me Tender, Wonderful Tonight, Truly
Wedding Tip:
Consider having a strolling band so that your guests can enjoy the personalised attention. But check with your band first, as it may not be suitable for all venues.

ZQ's thoughts: Can't Take My Eyes Off You!
It's the night of your wedding, and you're often so frazzled that hardly anything registers; you feel as if you're being herded around like sheep, rushed from one place to another.
Is this familiar? Thankfully, the above did not apply to Ghim Howe and Vo, who were probably the most charming couple I'd met since I started singing for A Little Dream.
They lit up the room with their beautiful smiles and gracious personalities. Vo, in particular, was luminous that night, and looked like a movie star. Ghim Howe, you are one lucky guy to have her as your bride. Way to go!
It was a great pleasure to perform for Ghim Howe and Vo because they found time to give us positive feedback despite their busy schedule, and made the band feel appreciated. We loved their song choices too!
My sincere thanks to Ghim Howe and Vo for engaging us as to perform at your wedding, and for appreciating our music. All the best to the two of you!

L-R: Matthew, ZQ, Vo, Ghim Howe, and Jon Lim
P.S. I just love this photo of the lovely couple and the band, taken at the end of our performance.
Band: ZQ, Jon Lim and Matthew
Repertoire:
Can't Take My Eyes Off You, 我是真的付出我的爱 (I'm Really Giving You My Love), You Are So Beautiful, Cheek To Cheek, Dream A Little Dream, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, L-O-V-E, Quando Quando Quando, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, Fly Me To The Moon, 可爱的玫瑰花 (Lovely Rose), Can’t Smile Without You
Compliments from Vo:
We knew we made the right choice by engaging A Little Dream for our wedding party. The 3-man band added a romantic touch to the Jazzy mood that we wanted for our wedding evening!
Thanks very much again to you and band, it would've been great if I had the chance to sit through listening to all your songs... Sadly I only got to listen to a few :(
Cheerios!

Bevlyn's thoughts: For The First Time
This wedding marked a couple of firsts for me. It was my first time singing in the River Room at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), and I fell in love with the cosy atmosphere, warm lighting and the ornate ceiling lamps. I highly recommend this venue for couples who need fewer than 20 tables. The acoustics were excellent too.
It was also our first experience working with Anna of Spellbound. An experienced wedding planner, she worked tirelessly to make sure that everything was in order: the flowers, the food (YUM!), and the unique wedding favours. She also made sure we were thoroughly briefed on what to do at every step of the way. We certainly hope to work with her more often in the future!
Vincent and Sin Yee exchanged their vows at the River Terrace, an open space just outside the banquet hall. As the ACM did not provide a sound system at that area, we arranged for a portable one so that the couple's dream of having an outdoor solemnisation ceremony could be realised.
The wedding programme was kept simple in the sense that there weren't any 1st or 2nd march-ins, no 1st dish fanfare or yum seng like most other weddings. Instead, Vincent and Sin Yee spent more time talking to their guests! To all couples who are wondering if they must follow the conventional wedding programme, you do not have to if you don't want to. Having a good time is more important! :)
P.S. We took a picture of us feasting on the sumptuous buffet after our performance. We decided not to upload it because our mouths were stuffed with the delicious food. The one below looks better :)
Band: Bevlyn, Hsin Yeow, Eleanor, Peter and Wilson

L-R: Bevlyn, Peter and Wilson
Repertoire:
My Valentine, L-O-V-E, Fly Me To The Moon, Stuck On You, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Dream A Little Dream, Fallen, One Fine Day, I Only Want To Be You, A Love That Will Last, Have I Told You Lately?, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, Someone Like You, When I Fall In Love, 我只在乎你 (I Only Care About You)
Wedding Tips:
(1) Have your solemnisation ceremony at the River Terrace of the ACM, and fulfill your dream of saying "I Do" just as the sun is about to set!
(2) If having a grand entrance is too fussy for you, feel free to do away with it. It's your wedding after all.
