Bevlyn's thoughts: Endless Love

I got a pleasant surprise when I reached the hotel's ballroom and see Derrick - I actually know this Derrick! And he even called and talked to me before the big day, and I didn't realise that it was him!

I got to know Derrick through a music event I was handling for his company in 2006. After that event, we lost touch but I never really forgot that he CAN sing. Since we had lost touch, I was roped into the wedding not by him but by one of his good friends Alex who, get this, is NOT a professional wedding planner, but has already planned 38 weddings (Derrick's being the 38th). And he told Derrick and I that he has no plans to turn professional, because once he does so, he might lose the passion. WOW. The amazing thing was, he was truly very organised and did not even sit down much for the lunch despite being a personal friend. Way to go, Alex!

In any case, it was great to see some of Derrick's colleagues whom I have not seen for a long time. In the end, these are the chaps who managed to sabo the couple to do a song together - Endless love - of course to everone's thunderous applause!

After this song, we actually had 2 volunteers who came up to each sing a song; Wonderful Tonight by Derrick's primary school-mate turned good buddy, and Valentine by Phyllis' sister. We were really excited that they were participative to make the wedding an even more memorable one.

But I think the best compliment was when halfway through, Derrick's father asked if we were still available on that evening for the dinner banquet. Unfortunately I had to turn him down because we were already booked. Must book us earlier lah, Uncle! But indeed, we were flattered and honoured. :)

It was also our first performing at Parkroyal at Beach Road. The sound system is not bad!
