Hsin Yeow's thoughts: 出嫁 (Getting Married)
Just before we began our performance, Serene turned to me and said, "I think InterContinental Singapore has the best ballroom!"
I could certainly see why she felt that way. The newly-refurbished Bugis Grand Ballroom evoked the old world charm of 1930s Singapore with its magnificent crystal chandeliers, beveled mirror panels and velvet walls.
The sound system was also top-notch. Serene and I could sing to our hearts' content without having to strain our ears to hear ourselves, which is often the case when over-zealous technical staff tune down the volume.
I also enjoyed watching the animation video of the couple's love story. It had the right combination of whimsy cartoon characters and humourous sound effects, which easily drew laughter from the audience.
It turned out that Nelson was so smitten by Shufen's beauty and personality during their first date that he blurted something to the effect of, "I think you're the one I've been looking for!" Naturally, Shufen turned tail and ran to hide in the bathroom, completely taken aback by Nelson's candid pronouncement.

Luckily for Nelson, Shufen was sufficiently interested in him to give him a chance, which led to a 5-year courtship.
Serene and I were very excited when we saw the songs that Nelson and Shufen chose. It had a number of romantic duets, including 关怀方式 (The Way Of Caring) and 出嫁 (Getting Married). I had a lot of fun performing with Serene, whom I greatly admire for being able to inject her own unique style and personality into her singing.
I was also grateful for Jonathan's inventive playing. He often eschewed the original arrangements, and preferred to tweak the style or timing of the song to keep it fresh for the listener. For example, he decided to play 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart) in the style of Swing music instead of the traditional ballad. It was a challenge for me to keep to the new timing, but, judging from the loud applause at the end of the song, I believed the guests enjoyed it very much!
Nelson and Shufen also engaged the services of a company which arranged for the guests to text their greetings and well wishes to a specified number; these messages were then projected on a screen for everyone to view.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this message, "Great music, good food and beautiful couple --- a perfect wedding!"
I couldn't agree more.

Compliments from the couple:
Dear A Little Dream....
Thanks so much for your wonderful performance and superb singing at our wedding dinner... our friends & guests simply raved about it!!! : )
Almost everyone commented on how good all 3 of you are! Singing such romantic songs, hitting all the high notes & creating such a nice ambience. Indeed, most friends agreed that the singing made our wedding dinner a lot more interesting, with live duets & music instead of the typical boring songs in the background. Kudos to a little dream for a show well-done!!!
We really appreciate all your efforts to agreeing to put up the performance and choosing of songs at our wedding in such short notice! 2 weeks before to be exact and all through phone calls & emails without meeting!!! Plus the creation of a live journal of our wedding... it's so touching!
Our wedding was simply more beautiful and memorable all thanks to everyone of you who made it possible... Miss your singing, hopefully we will have the chance to enjoy them soon at another wedding dinner!!!
With many thanks...
