Hsin Yeow's thoughts: 情人 (Lover)
When the clock struck 1.10pm, Dr Bey, the solemniser, came up to me and said quite firmly, "We need to start the solemnisation ceremony soon. I have to be at another wedding at 2.30pm! Can you do something about it?"
I looked around at the ballroom, which was still about a quarter full. It would take some time to usher in all the guests. According to the programme, I also had to announce a video presentation before the solemnisation ceremony could proceed.
Dr Bey was understandably concerned about his next appointment, so I made a snap decision, "Not to worry, Dr Bey, I'll suggest to the couple that we shift the video presentation until just before the couple's second entrance."
Within five minutes, I got the couple's consent, and started to gently remind the guests to take their seats. At 1.35pm, the couple made their first entrance and the solemnisation ceremony was underway.
That was the first hurdle I had to cross at the emcee. When I went onstage again to host the toasting ceremony, I realised that the crowd needed some prodding to cheer yum seng (cantonese phrase which means, "drink up").
When an uncle in a red polo shirt managed to cheer louder than the twenty-odd guests onstage, I gently ribbed, "Hey uncle, you did a great job at cheering yum seng! I'm sure the people onstage can cheer louder right?" True enough, the final cheer of yum seng was a loud and spirited one.
The band had a great time performing at May and Patrick's wedding. Having played together for several years, Ein Ein and Wilson's finely honed musicianship and superb chemistry created an afternoon of lively music.
The sound system at Conrad was also top-notch, which meant that the guests could listen to our performance clearly, and yet did not feel that the music overwhelmed, or interrupted their conversations.
Congratulations, May and Patrick! Thank you so much for engaging us to perform at your wedding. May you both enjoy a blessed and joyous marriage!

情人 (Lover) (Video)
- Really enjoyed singing this number. It was a big hit for Alex To when it was first released in 1999, and I'm still hearing it on the airwaves.
Compliments from May and Patrick: Great job , well done!!!
Excellent performance!!!
We and the guests truly enjoyed the great performance presented by Hsin Yeow and his team during our wedding celebration.
We will sure to recommend "a little dream" to couples who are planning their BIG day.
Wedding Tip:
