Bevlyn's thoughts: Destiny

Thomas and Lisa share a fairytale love story that most people will go arhhh when they hear of it.

Their paths first crossed when they were 12 at the birthday party of Thomas' cousin, who was Lisa's primary school classmate.

Then they ‘supposedly met’ when they were in Hwa Chong Junior College, he being one year her senior, but they did not know each other’s existence.

Two years later, Lisa went to Sydney for studies, and as fate would have it, Thomas was there for a visit and she was dragged by their ‘matchmaker’ to host him and a friend (Jeff the emcee) for a short while.

They only got to know each other better 2 years later when Lisa returned to Singapore.

I strongly believe in the ideology, six degrees of separation, and perhaps this is what at times, makes a love between a man and woman even more romantic.

I especially love the 1st march-in for Lisa and Thomas': the flower girls and boys marched in first to Jon's saxophone playing of the French classic 'La Vie En Rose'. The timing was impeccable: when they had nearly reached the stage, that was when everyone gave their applause and also my turn to sing. The door opened and Lisa and Thomas marched in to everyone's applause again.

The wedding was really unique in its own right because there was 1 speech by Lisa's brother-in-law, and 3 speeches by their good friends. There was even a song dedication by Lisa's colleague, Dawn, who happened to be one of the contestants from the competition '绝对Superstar'. She delivered a beautiful rendition of Beautiful Love, originally sung by Tanya Chua

One very touching moment for me was when Thomas was giving his thank you speech. It was the first time I hear someone, not to say a man, say '我爱你' (I Love You) in mandarin to his mother. I think that really says something about this man :)

After the speech, the couple gamely took on the song 'Grow Old With You'. It was interesting to note that I had encouraged Thomas to sing a song for his bride, but in the end, Lisa decided to participate and sing with Thomas too with each taking on a verse and coming in together for the chorus. What a cute couple!

Hi Bev,

The feedback from the audience about the band was fantastic!

My brother-in-law, who came from England was especially impressed that the quality of the music was so good for a three piece band. He himself had a 10-men orchestra at his own wedding and was surprised how great music can come out from a 3-piece as well. Anyway, if you noticed, he was at the table which clapped for you nearly after every song!

And just to reiterate again and again, you guys were B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T. My only regret was that we couldn’t have enough time to soak up the music and do some dancing!

We’ll definitely recommend you to our marrying friends and maybe next time we’ll be able to listen to our heart’s content. One more thing: I had a native french speaker in the audience and he remarked that your french was good! Did you learn french from young?
