Bev and Hsin by Wansheng
Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Moondance

Halfway through the wedding, Alison pulled me aside and said in glee, "Everyone's so relaxed! I've been to weddings where everyone is so serious. I wanted my wedding to be different, and I can't believe it's coming true!"

That's the magic of intimate gatherings, I feel. There were less than 20 tables, but Alison and Marc chose their multi-national guests well. One 'crazy' chap even flew for 20 hours from San Francisco just to attend the wedding.

The evening started swimmingly because Alison had shared with me the story of how she met and fell in love with Marc. I was touched by her candour and generosity. Even though she had never met me prior to the wedding, she opened up to me unreservedly, while the hairdresser was teasing her hair into curls in fact.

I was moved when Alison complimented Marc, and said that he was the reason why she became the person she was today. It turned out that Marc was instrumental in encouraging her to better herself, and develop skills she never thought she had. In return, she gave up her job in Singapore and moved to Beijing with him.

Armed with the information, I was able to give a short toast to describe the love Alison and Marc shared, as the guests raised their glasses and wished the couple every bit of happiness they deserved.

Some other beautiful moments of the wedding:

- when Alison and Marc's friends surprised them by asking them to cut out a piece of cloth in the shape of a heart together (using very tiny scissors!). Apparently, it was a German tradition.

- when Alison came to me and 'complained' that Bevlyn's touching rendition of Two Words moved her to tears

- when Alison and Marc agreed to dance after I surprised them with my request

- when several other guests joined the dance floor and shimmied to our uptempo numbers

Compliments from Alison:

Thanks so much for the wonderful performance on our wedding day. The day was simply awesome. Setting the ambience is never easy but you guys managed to do it right.

ALL of my guests raved about how great you guys are and you know what, you managed to win the hearts of so many people.

We have never seen a wedding so relaxed and really, music calms the soul. Every of our guests are simply enjoying every moment. From the 1st march in till the very end, you guys are just amazing!

We regret that we don't really have the chance to sit back and enjoy BUT hopefully we are able to see you AROUND in one of the weddings of our friends =)

Thanks a lot guys for the wonderful memory. Thanks for being part of our important day.
